The padding seems adequate, not sure about durability yet (only just received it) but seems tough. The zip is not placed centrally along the seam, which is good as It means that the laptop sits in the 'base' completely protected on 1 side and 4 edges and then the zip closes the top open it. If the zip had been central then it may have rubbed on the laptop. The dimensions match the description and it DOES fit a MacBook Pro A1707 as stated .... but it's tight! This is good as it does not slide about inside.

I used this to put my Lenovo laptop (16 inches) in before putting it in my carry on for my last flight and it was completely secure the entire flight. There is a cushion lining on the inside along with extra padding around the corners. It fits like a glove!
